The goal of the Summit is to reduce the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in Houston and the surrounding area. The summit will bring together university and school-based nurses, health professionals from community clinics and academic settings, and local community and political leaders to discuss cervical cancer prevention and treatment; review evidence-based practices; Identify barriers and resources to help underserved and uninsured women receive needed diagnostic services and/or treatment for cervical cancer as well as help establish a medical home; and to establish a navigation system for women needing an HPV / PAP / cervical cancer triage in the greater Houston area.
