Narratives the New Form of Increasing Information

On April 23, 2015, the American Journal of Public Health published a new study conducted in Los Angles, California from 2011-2012. Researchers surveyed Non-Hispanic White, Mexican American, and African American women age25 to 45 on their cervical cancer-related knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. Participants were randomly assigned to watch either a narrative or a nonnarative film which contained the same information on cervical cancer prevention. At 6 months post-intervention, women who watched the narrative film were considerably more likely to have scheduled a Pap test than those randomized to the non-narrative arm.
