New Research-to-Practice Reports on HPV Vaccination in Schools

Cervical Cancer-Free North Carolina (CCFNC) is excited to announce two new Research-to-Practice Reports that underscore the potential of school-based immunization as a strategy for increasing adolescent vaccine coverage.  The first report summarizes findings from a survey of all 33 North Carolina school health centers that stock the HPV vaccine.  The second report highlights findings from interviews with 5 school-located vaccination programs that offer HPV vaccine in US schools without school health centers.

Proposed Cuts Could Eliminate Title X Cervical Cancer Screening Funds

Representative Hal Rogers (R-KY), Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, announced a list of 70 spending cuts to be included in the FY 2011 Continuing Resolution bill, including a $327 million elimination of Title X in family planning funds. The Title X family planning program enables 5 million women to access primary and preventive health care, including cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment.

On January 25, 2011, Sacramento & Co., a California morning television show, interviewed Dr. Patricia Samuelson and cervical cancer survivor Marlene VonFriederichs-Fitzwater to promote Cervical Health Awareness Month.
